The XXI International Silage Conference invites researchers and scientists from academia, industry and government to submit an abstract for a talk or poster on the role of silage in small ruminant, beef and dairy rations.

Abstracts should offer original insight across forage agronomy, conservation strategy, silage feeding and nutrition, silage safety and related topics.

Alongside plenary sessions with invited speakers, the conference runs concurrent sessions — each with a lead-off invited speaker and three talks chosen from submissions — plus multiple poster sessions. Assign each abstract to one of the published session topics.

Registration is required

Speakers and poster presenters must register and pay the applicable fee by Friday 28 March 2027 to confirm participation.

Abstracts without a paid registration by that date are not published and are removed from the programme.

Details to note

1

Talks

Each concurrent session runs 75 minutes and holds four technical presentations: a 5-minute introduction, a 25-minute lead-off by an invited expert, then three 15-minute talks selected from submitted abstracts — 12 minutes of presentation plus 3 for questions.

2

Posters

Posters are grouped by topic and presented in one-hour sessions across the conference. Display specifications arrive with your presenter notification email.

Student poster authors can enter the Best Poster awards, judged on the abstract, the poster itself and the discussion.

3

Guidelines

State your preference — talk or poster — when submitting. If you ask for a talk but are not selected, you will be offered a poster.

Space is limited, so requests for multiple presentations may not be accommodated. Work should be original, substantially complete, and not yet published as a full paper.

Abstracts must be written and presented in English; linguistic accuracy is the author’s responsibility. All presentations are given live and in person.
